Meet the Naturopathic Doctor

Naturopathic Doctor, Laura A Munro

Dr. Munro began her career in the medical field in 1992 after graduating with her Associates degree in Applied Science with a focus in Physical Therapy. She has worked in the field ever since in a variety of settings including: orthopedics, in-patient, out-patient, and lastly pediatrics. The children she worked with finally gave her the inspiration she needed to accomplish her goal of becoming a doctor.

She returned to school in 2002 to attain her pre-med requisites and graduated, Magna Cum Laude, with her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut in 2007. Directly after graduation from UCONN she entered Naturopathic Medical School and graduated, July 2011, from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine earning her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine.

In addition Dr. Munro owned and operated Serenity Yoga Studio from 2000 to 2003 where she witnessed the amazing healing that took place on a physical, spiritual, as well as a mental/emotional level. She believes that it is this holistic process which demonstrates our body’s innate wisdom to heal itself. Dr. Munro prides herself on having the attributes that she considers makes for an exceptional physician including: tenacity, non-judgment, compassion, good listening skills, curiosity, honesty, open-mindedness, patience, adaptability, and a willingness to grow. She believes that possessing these qualities serves the patient, allowing the physician to look at the whole person including the patient’s personal situation, offering the potential to treat the entire family.

She believes strongly in educating her patients, as well as the community, in order to encourage them to become proactive, passionate and  to allow them the opportunity to understand the impact they can have on their own health and healing. Dr. Munro feels that by empowering her patients with understanding and knowledge they will be able to actively affect their own potential.

Dr. Munro’s goal and desire is to be a portal through which her patients will attain a level of health that will manifest into a balanced way of life. She affirms to work diligently to put the pieces of the puzzle together, and to help her patients take back the power to live a full, healthy life. The decision for treatment will be a collaborative effort between patient & doctor, and will include such options as hydrotherapy, nutrition, botanicals, homeopathy, craniosacral therapy, therapeutic activities/yoga, acupuncture, as well as cleansing protocols.
